Today we mihi to our Māori Health providers! Why? Because all through coronavirus rāhui we’ve been watching, concerned about testing rates for whānau. We’ve encouraged us all to get tested. And it was only once our Māori Health providers (so often small, on the ground, local) FOUGHT for us all, only then did we start to see Māori testing increasing. “The mobilisation of Māori and Pacific health providers has made a stark difference to the testing of Māori and Pacific communities.” - Dr Rāwiri Taonui.
