Nei raa te mihi maioha
During Covid-19 we saw iwi around Aotearoa taking action and putting roadblocks in place to protect our whaanau, hapu, iwi, communities. A United Nations report has now been released confirming that this has been the most reliable indigenous strategy to protect our vulnerable communities. A paper from 15 medical experts, academics and Indigenous leaders comprehensively detailed such a strategy, the heart of which centres on ‘voluntary collective isolation’ within secure borders. So to our iwi leaders and our people who volunteered their time on the frontline protecting our communities " Nei raa te mihi maioha".
